Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held a meeting with Srimati Shivasankar, Corporate Vice President and Global Leader at HCL Technologies.
During the discussion, topics focused on the current state of digitalization in education, as well as opportunities for preparing and developing young talents.
Minister Shermatov highlighted that one of the main objectives of the Ministry is to provide the youth with job opportunities and create favorable working conditions. He emphasized that Uzbekistan’s limited access to the sea drives the Ministry to actively develop the IT sector, which contributes to the rapid growth of IT service exports.
The Minister also discussed the certification system established by the Ministry in collaboration with Oracle, which provides specialists who have completed courses and earned certificates the opportunity to secure high-paying jobs in the country.
In turn, Srimati Shivasankar praised the Ministry’s achievements in the field of information and communication technologies, as well as the development of the IT park in Uzbekistan. She presented a brief overview of the company and highlighted key areas of its operations. One of the proposed areas of collaboration focused on educating youth from a young age and developing their skills. She added that HCL Technologies maintains connections with numerous companies that could assist in this process. Additionally, the company is considering partnering with Uzbek universities to develop specific faculties.
Minister Shermatov supported the initiatives proposed by the company representative and expressed readiness for collaboration and assistance. He also shared plans for establishing Enterprise Uzbekistan, a special economic zone with a regulatory framework that meets international standards, which would attract more foreign companies to the country.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed a commitment to cooperation, exchanged opinions on the discussed areas, and expressed hopes for effective collaboration.
Additionally, the parties signed a memorandum of understanding to further develop their cooperation.
