Minister of Energy: One of the key tasks is ensuring stable supply of electricity and ga*

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  One of the key tasks is to ensure a stable supply of electricity and natural gas, despite unstable weather conditions. This was stated by the Minister of Energy, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, in an interview with the O’zbekiston 24 TV channel.

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to discuss measures for uninterrupted energy supply to the population and sectors of the economy amid falling temperatures.

During the meeting, issues related to optimizing the operation of the energy system, cooperation with neighboring countries, and the use of reserve resources were discussed.

"Comparing the current situation with the same period last year, we can note that the temperature in November is significantly lower than last year, with snowfalls and temperatures dropping to minus 3 degrees, and in some regions, to minus 8. This has led to a sharp increase in the consumption of natural gas and electricity," said the Minister of Energy.

To ensure the necessary energy supply, resources from underground gas storage facilities and other reserve sources were mobilized.

Mirzamakhmudov emphasized that to meet the increased demand, a strategy for operating the energy system under extreme cold conditions was developed.

Additionally, an action plan for a potential temperature drop to minus 10 and even minus 20 degrees was discussed. The Minister of Energy noted that for each stage of the energy supply chain, obligations and responsibilities of the performers had been clearly defined, ensuring the reliability of energy supply during the winter cold.
