Micro dators to build computer production plant in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Latvia’s Micro dators is planning to implement two projects in Uzbekistan, including one on production of computer equipment, Jahon news agency reported quoting Business & Baltic newspaper.

Member of the Board of Micro dators Ina Gude said to Latvian newspaper that the first project will be directed at supplying electronic equipment for reading data from electricity and water meters.

The second project is directed at construction of plant on production of computer equipment – tablet computers, notebooks and desktops, she said.

She said that Micro dators will invest its technologies and know-how, while the Uzbek partners are ready to invest about US$10 million. The plant will be located at Navoi free industrial-economic zone and it will create about 160 jobs.

Ina Gude said that Navoi FIEZ has great investment potential and opens new directions of cooperation, as well as attracts attention of foreign investors.

Currently, there are over 30 Latvian companies, operating in Uzbekistan. About ten of them are the Uzbek-Latvian joint ventures. Majority of them are engaged in logistics sector (Cargo Control, Profi Logistics, Uzbalt, BVN Trading), while others work in food and timber processing industries.
