Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia is working on opening a branch of the institute in Tashkent. This was announced at a joint meeting of the Supervisory and Trustee Council of the MGIMO on Thursday, 20 December, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
According to him, MGIMO strengthens its position abroad. “At the request of the leaderships of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, the university conducted preparatory work to establish its branches in these countries,” he said.
Today we will have to make the appropriate changes to the MGIMO Charter, which will allow opening branches in Baku and Tashkent. Of course, this step will contribute to the expansion of the Russian humanitarian presence in the CIS,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.
