Meteorologists of Finland train their colleagues from Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A seminar titled “Modern challenges in hydrometeorology and ways of their decision” was held in Tashkent, which was attended by meteorologists of Uzbekistan and Finland.

The seminar was organized within the project “Assisting modernization of hydrometeorology services of the Central Asian states”, implemented by Center of hydrometeorology service under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan and Meteorology Institute of Finland.

The project helps to adaptation to climate change through decreasing risk of loss of life and property due to weather and extreme climate events in Central Asia. It is focused development of institutional potential of national hydrometeorology and meteorology service of the region.

The project is implemented in cooperation with World Meteorological Organization to ensure meeting of global standards and to assist to international cooperation in weather, climate and water.

Director General of Center of hydrometeorology service Victor Chub said that the seminar aimed at determining modern challenges in hydrometeorology and to find ways of their solution.

He said that almost all sectors of economy are depended from weather and climate factors and hydrometeorology services should provide various services to them.

At the seminar, the participants considered needs of hydrometeorology services of Uzbekistan and Finland, expanding their potential, improving quality of services, etc.

Victor Chub said that expansion of hydrometeorology services will help improve economic figures and decrease damage from climate change and weather conditions.

It was said that the joint project focuses on education of employees as well. It was said that new educational equipment will be delivered soon to Tashkent and installed at educational center of World Meteorological Organization in Tashkent.

After equipment the center will be model for other meteorology services and their divisions. It will also help to improve skills of specialists from Uzbekistan and Central Asian states.
