Meeting of the Parliamentary Speakers of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan Held in Avaza

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Avaza, Turkmenistan, on the sidelines of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, a meeting took place between Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Sahiba Gafarova, Chairperson of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, and Dunyagozel Gulmanova, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

The talks were held in a warm and trusting atmosphere. The parties discussed prospects for developing inter‑parliamentary cooperation and strengthening multilateral ties.

Special attention was given to the results of the First Uzbek‑Azerbaijani Inter‑Parliamentary Forum, held in Khiva. It was noted that this platform became an important step toward strengthening friendly relations between the two countries. As part of preparations for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, the sides agreed to hold similar events aimed at taking bilateral relations to a new level.

The consistent work of the Uzbek‑Turkmen inter‑parliamentary cooperation groups was also highlighted, with emphasis placed on the need for further deepening cooperation, including through the activities of the inter‑parliamentary commission with the involvement of local government representatives.

The participants further stressed the importance of holding regular inter‑parliamentary forums in Central Asia, intensifying ties between border regions, and expanding the exchange of delegations. In their view, these initiatives create a solid foundation for further regional integration.
