Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held today at the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan with a delegation led by Valery Pikaev, head of the Federal Customs Service of Russia.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee Akmalkhudja Mavlonov welcomed the Russian delegation, noting that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev places special emphasis on the development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia, which has a positive and stimulating effect on bilateral collaboration in the customs sphere.
During the bilateral talks, the parties discussed further improvements to the "Simplified Customs Corridor" principle for foreign trade goods between Uzbekistan and Russia.
The discussions also included expanding the application of benefits and simplifications for authorized economic operators from both countries, coordinating the methodology of customs laboratory expertise, and exploring future cooperation in the field of cynology.
The Russian delegation was introduced to the activities of the Customs Clearance Center and the Central Customs Laboratory, which were launched on August 29, 2023, during President Mirziyoyev’s visit to the Customs Committee.
The efforts in digitizing customs operations and simplifying procedures, as well as the results achieved, made a strong impression on the guests.
It is worth noting that on 2 December 2022, in Samarkand, the customs heads of both countries signed an agreement to open representative offices of the customs services of Uzbekistan and Russia. In line with this agreement, the representative of the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan continues to work in Russia.
The visit of the Federal Customs Service delegation to Uzbekistan is ongoing.
