Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 28 November 2024, the leadership of the Ministry of Economy and Finance held a meeting with representatives of Sohar International Bank and the Uzbek-Omani Investment Company.
Sohar International, founded in 2007, is an Omani financial institution providing banking solutions for individuals and businesses, including accounts, deposits, loans, insurance, and asset management services.
The Uzbek-Omani Investment Company (UOIC), established in 2010, is an international investment entity operating in Uzbekistan. Its core objectives are achieving long-term capital growth, fostering Uzbekistan’s economic development, and strengthening strategic and economic ties between the Sultanate of Oman and Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by Wafa Jabr Nasser Al-Busaidi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sultanate of Oman to Uzbekistan, Ahmed Al Musalmi, Chairman of Sohar International Bank, Omar Bakhram, CEO of the Uzbek-Omani Investment Company, and other officials. Representing Uzbekistan was Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Jasur Karshibaev.
The meeting covered a broad range of topics related to Uzbekistan’s economic landscape, with a particular focus on the current state of the national economy and an analysis of key macroeconomic indicators.
Discussions also revolved around ongoing cooperation in the financial sector and prospects for expanding the partnership. Special emphasis was placed on reforms in Uzbekistan’s banking sector and general trends in the financial and investment domains.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to maintain communication and collaborate further to strengthen business relations and advance cooperation.
