Meeting between Belarusian Ambassador and khokim of Ferghana region: Focus on cooperation and shared historical memory

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 May, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Alexander Ogorodnikov, held a working meeting with the khokim of Ferghana region Khayrullo Bozarov.

During the discussion, the parties addressed a wide range of issues related to expanding trade and economic cooperation, strengthening interregional ties, and developing collaboration in humanitarian and tourism spheres.

Specifically, they examined prospects for industrial cooperation, including in the fields of transport and electric transport; joint projects in woodworking, furniture manufacturing, and the food industry; as well as the expansion of mutual supplies of food products between Belarus and Uzbekistan.

Special attention was given to education, highlighting the Belarusian side’s interest in training Uzbek students at Belarusian universities, including through the provision of educational grants.

The prospects for cooperation between Ferghana region and the Gomel and Mogilev regions of Belarus were also discussed in detail.

Plans for bilateral visits, business meetings, and joint events were reviewed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Alexander Ogorodnikov congratulated Khayrullo Bozarov on the 80th anniversary of Victory in World War II, expressing gratitude for the contribution of the Uzbek people to the common victory.

As a sign of respect and historical remembrance, the Ambassador presented the commemorative medal “80 Years of the Liberation of Belarus from the Nazi Invaders” to be awarded to the family of Ferghana native Kory Teshabaev, who participated in the liberation of Belarus.
