Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A man in the Kashkadarya region has been sentenced to imprisonment for setting fire to his wife.

It was reported that while under the influence of alcohol, the man doused his wife with gasoline and set her on fire in front of their minor children.

The tragic incident occurred on the night of 22 April 2024.

After committing the crime, the man fled the scene, leaving his wife to burn.

Thanks to the prompt assistance of relatives and medical professionals, the woman was rescued, although she sustained severe burns covering 35-38% of her body.

During the trial, the accused admitted his guilt and sought leniency.

However, the court sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment in a general regime penal colony.

Despite the incident, the victim has forgiven her husband for the sake of their five children.
