Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- One of the leading Malaysian newspapers, the New Sarawak Tribune, published an article entitled "Craft Paradise in Central Asia", dedicated to the traditions and history of handicraft in our country, Dunyo reported.

In it, readers are invited to plunge into the handicraft tradition of the city of Qoqand, which was included in the World List of Craft Cities.

It was noted that the city has a developed industrial industry, which includes about 20 areas, including the production of silk, cotton, textiles, food, chemical and electrical products.

The article describes the abundance of colorful and unique works of Uzbek artisans at fairs and bazaars of Qoqand.

At the same time, it speaks of measures taken in the republic to preserve the rich cultural heritage and historical traditions of the Uzbek people through the development of national handicrafts, folk arts and crafts and applied arts. Special attention is paid to ensuring employment of the population, through their wide attraction to this industry.

It is also indicated that due to the growing interest and demand for Uzbek craftsmen’s handicraft products, in particular from the Ferghana Valley, the leadership of Uzbekistan pays considerable attention to promoting national products and their export to world markets.

In conclusion, the Malaysian journalist recommends connoisseurs of applied art to visit Uzbekistan and take part in the II International Festival of Folk Applied Arts in Qoqand, scheduled for 2021.
