Maintain momentum urges Musaev
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan coach Akhmadjan Musaev wants there to be no let from his players in their remaining two Group C matches following their comfortable 4-0 win over Vietnam in their opening match of the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship campaign on Sunday.

Striker Igor Sergeev scored twice and created one while defender Maksimlian Fomin and Timur Khakimov also registered their names on the scoresheet to record the victory that put the Uzbeks top of the table after defending champions DPR Korea were held to a 1-1 draw by Jordan in the earlier match at the Emirates Stadium.

"It was a good win against a good side," Musaev told reporters after recording a second 4-0 win over the same team two months ago in Vietnam.

"We went into the match with a plan and the boys were focused it. The match was by no means easy but we played well and scored in regular intervals to emerge victorious so over all the first game of the competition went well for us," he said.

"We still have a long way to go. There are two tough teams awaiting and we must concentrate to win those matches."

In contrast, Vietnamese coach Mai Duc Chung accepted defeat against a 'superior' opponent.

"There are no words to comment on the match as the result already shows how it went," he said in the post-match press conference.

"We lost our focus and our defenders failed to mark the Uzbek frontline and we had to pay the price.

"We had a very good first 20 minutes but things changed after we conceded the goal," he said.

On a positive note, Chung said that his team were far better than two months ago when they lost the match against Uzbeks with same scoreline.

"Two months ago, we just started our training and we were struggling in ball possession but today we had some good spells and who knows had we scored earlier the match might have gone to our way," he said.

Vietnam will take on Jordan on Tuesday while Uzbekistan face DPR Korea on the same day at the Emirates Stadium.
