Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan has established the Main Transport Security Directorate of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the basis of the Public Security Directorate of the Ministry of Interior Affairs, the Tashkent Metro Administration of the General Directorate of Interior Affairs of Tashkent and the Public Security Division of transport security of the Office of Interior Affairs of Tashkent region.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On additional measures for the implementation of an effective public safety system at transport and tourism facilities.”
The new department will coordinate activities for protection of public order, the prevention of crime and the fight against crime at the facilities of the metro, railway and air transport infrastructure.
Among the tasks of management is the effective provision of the safe movement of passengers, the integrity and safety of inventory items transported by rail and air.
The Directorate will detect and suppress terrorist threats, illegal trafficking in narcotic drugs, their analogues, psychotropic substances and their precursors, firearms, ammunition, explosives, radioactive, poisonous, potent and poisonous substances at transport facilities.
The staff of the department will ensure public safety at transport facilities and adjacent territories.
