LUKOIL helps to improve water supply in Uzbek village

On the eve of 22nd anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence, LUKOIL Uzbekistan carried out a charity campaign in Dehkanabad district of Kashkadarya region.

In cooperation with district administration, the company helped to provide water to auxiliary farms of Bibikarasach village, which is located near field camp of Okkul field of Gissar deposits group.

Before the irrigation season, Obi Hayot Association installed pump with the capacity of 80 liters of water per second. LUKOIL Uzbekistan financed purchase and installation of 40 kW transformer to ensure work of the pump.

Being part of International oil and gas company LUKOIL, the company actively implements social projects, especially, in those regions, where it works. The company finances projects at schools and helps to elder people and low-income families.

LUKOIL Uzbekistan official underlined that the company tries to initiative and implement actual and interesting projects. The project in Bibikarasach village is an example of such projects, which helped to effectively use financial resources to help 250 households with water to irrigate their farms.

Mamayusuf Alikulov, aksakal of Bibikarasach district, said that earlier village used river to irrigate lands, but heavy rains at the end of 2012 eroded the riverbed and the water level dropped, which halted natural irrigation of lands.

Ismatullo Norqulov, chairperson of the citizens’ gathering Bibikarasach, said that now about 250 households can provide fruits and vegetables to their families and market. He expressed gratitude to LUKOIL Uzbekistan for rendered assistance. He expressed hope that the sides will cooperate in future as well.
