Human Rights Commissioner of Oliy Majlis Sayyora Rashidova attended the meeting and delivered a report on activity of the body in 2007.

Rashidova said that Ombudsperson’s office operated effectively to ensure and protect the constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens. She said that the office cooperated with state bodies, non-state and non-profit organizations and mass media.

Last year, the office of Ombudsperson received about 8,611 communications from citizens. The applicants received legal consultations and explanations on protection of their rights, freedoms and legal interests.

Sayyora Rashidova said Human Rights Commissioner’s Office established relations with foreign counterparts.
