The first draft law regulates relations in naming and re-naming geographic objects, as well as setting, normalizing, state registration, use and preserving geographic objects’ names. The law sets main concepts, authorized body in naming geographic objects. It regulates order of naming and re-naming various geographic objects, determines responsibility for violation of legislation in this sphere.

The second draft law stipulates to introduce amendments to regulation of the State Committee on Nature Protection, law “On order of solving issues of administrative-territorial division, naming and renaming toponymic objects in Uzbekistan”, law “On geodesy and cartography”, law “On trademarks, service brands and names of goods’ provenance”, etc.

The documents will allow eliminating existing non-coordination in current legislation, related with naming and renaming geographic objects, and ensure single use of terms and definitions.

MPs approved these laws and passed them in the first reading.
