Legislative Chamber passes draft law “On electronic commerce” in first reading
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan discussed a draft law “On electronic commerce” in new edition, which was submitted by the Cabinet of Ministers.

The document is directed at creating favourable conditions for realization of goods and services with use of electronic documents and messages, setting legal mechanisms of implementation and protection of the rights of electronic commerce participants.

It was underlined that electronic commerce will allow to improve transparency of transactions and consumers can receive information on prices, quality and conditions of supply of goods.

It will help to create additional conditions for developing entrepreneurship and improving business environment, as well as organize technologies of market infrastructure, meeting international standards.

The law abolishes requirement to have electronic digital signature at electronic documents for individuals at conducting e-commerce and envisages replacement of signature with other one-time identifications or similar signs. The document allows to issue acts of services in electronic form, which will simplify e-commerce procedures.

After discussions, the MPs approved the concept of the law and passed it in the first reading.
