Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 8 November, a new law comes into force in Uzbekistan, which recognizes rights to land and properties illegally occupied by citizens before 1 May 2018.
Under the law, citizens will now have the opportunity to legally formalize ownership or lease agreements for the following types of properties:
- Land plots illegally occupied before 1 May 2018, for individual housing construction, as well as the buildings and structures located on them.
- Land plots occupied by individuals or organizations before 1 May 2018, exceeding the area specified in existing documents, including buildings and structures on those plots.
- Properties for which rights had not been fully recognized due to the expiration of the "one-time action" period.
- Land plots allocated by district (city) khokims before 8 June 2021, but not approved by regional khokims or the local councils of people's deputies.
- Residential properties located in horticultural and vineyard associations, and the land occupied by them.
- Land plots where businesses placed their facilities before 9 March 2020, in small industrial zones.
- Land plots occupied by privatized buildings and structures under state orders.
- Land plots with buildings for which ownership rights have been recognized by a khokim's decision.
This law is aimed at legalizing the rights to land and buildings that were previously used without formal recognition.
