Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ghana defeat Serbia 1-0 in the World Cup Group D opener at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, on Sunday.

Asamoah Gyan scored a penalty in the 84th minute after the referee pointed to the spot for ball handling. Gyan sent the ball into the roof of the net.

Serbia had been reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute after Aleksandar Lukovic received his second yellow card of the day. It is worth to note that Serbia slipped to their fourth consecutive World Cup finals defeat.
