Land Allocated for New International Airport in Tashkent Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Land totaling 1,309.76 hectares is planned to be allocated in the Urta-Chirchik and Quyi-Chirchik districts of Tashkent region for the construction of a new international airport, according to the regional hokimiyat.
Of this area, 1,075.45 hectares are irrigated lands, 112.69 hectares are orchards, 0.65 hectares are pastures and hayfields, and the remaining 120.97 hectares fall into other land categories.
In Urta-Chirchik, 790.76 hectares will be allocated, including 609.95 hectares of irrigated land, 112.63 hectares of orchards, 0.65 hectares of pastures and hayfields, and 67.53 hectares of other land.
In Quyi-Chirchik, 519 hectares are planned, with 465.5 hectares of irrigated land, 0.06 hectares of orchards, and 53.44 hectares of other land.
The new airport will occupy about 1,200 hectares.
Earlier, in early August, Transport Minister Ilhom Makhkamov noted that the facility will be built 17 kilometers south of the existing airport. The location was chosen for its proximity to key logistics and transport infrastructure, including the M-39 highway and the future Tashkent–Samarkand toll road.
At the first stage, the new aviation hub will be able to serve up to 20 million passengers per year, accommodate 169 aircraft simultaneously, and handle more than 40 takeoffs and landings per hour.
Javlonbek Umarhodzhaev, Chairman of Uzbekistan Airports, emphasized that the complex will be fully digitalized and constructed using modern technologies.
