KOICA opens development cooperation history museum to promote people’s understanding on development cooperation by collecting, organizing, preserving, and exhibiting various records related to Korea’s development cooperation history which has been transformed from recipient country to donor country.
Korea is recognized as an example of successful socio-economic growth in a short time with ODA. It is expected that this history museum will be the place to raise historical awareness on development cooperation of Korea people, and prospects Korea’s development cooperation history.
Also, KOICA organized an opening ceremony of the 9th Silk Road special exhibition of Global Village.
Young-mok Kim, President of KOICA, Yoon-jo Shim (Unification Committee of National Assembly), H. E. Elyor Ganiev (Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan), the Ambassadors and diplomatic missions from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyz Republic, Oh Young-joo (Director general for development cooperation at the Foreign Ministry), and 200 distinguished guests will participate in the opening ceremony.
The exhibition with the theme of ‘the hope of Eurasia with KOICA’ will introduce five countries of Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan) and also Azerbaijan which bloomed resplendent culture of Silk Road. ODA projects for Central Asian socio-economic development KOICA is conducting as well as Korea’s ODA history and necessity will be also introduced.
This exhibition will be open from Mon to Saturday until February 2016.
