Khusanov left trophyless: Manchester City falls to Crystal Palace in FA Cup final

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan national team defender Abdukodir Khusanov was unable to secure his first trophy in England as his club, Manchester City, lost 0-1 to Crystal Palace in the 2025 FA Cup final.

The match, held on 17 May at Wembley Stadium, was historic for the London-based club — Crystal Palace won a major trophy for the first time in their 119-year history.

The only goal came in the 16th minute when Eberechi Eze scored following a swift combination involving Jean-Philippe Mateta and Daniel Munoz.

Manchester City controlled possession for most of the game but failed to break down the opponent’s well-organized defense. The hero of the match was Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who saved a penalty from Omar Marmoush and made several crucial saves.

However, Henderson’s performance sparked controversy: in the first half, he handled the ball outside the penalty area but was not sent off after a VAR review, drawing criticism from experts and former players.

Abdukodir Khusanov, who became the first Uzbek player in the English Premier League in January 2025, started the final on the bench and did not enter the field.

For Crystal Palace, this victory not only brought a long-awaited trophy but also secured their participation in the UEFA Europa League next season.

Under the leadership of coach Oliver Glasner, the team delivered a mature performance and rightfully entered the history of English football.
