Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 December 2024, the Humo Arena in Tashkent will host a historic Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) match between Dinamo Minsk and Spartak Moscow as part of the KHL World Games project. This marks the first-ever KHL game in Uzbekistan and makes Tashkent the 49th city to host league matches.
The game promises to be a true celebration of hockey. Dinamo features the legendary Vadim Shipachyov, while Spartak will showcase its formidable forward trio of Poryadin, Goldobin, and Morozov. In addition to the match, young hockey players in Uzbekistan will have the chance to participate in masterclasses led by stars such as Ilya Kovalchuk, Valery Kamensky, and Sergei Fedorov.
KHL President Alexei Morozov expressed confidence in the high-level organization of the event and its potential to attract new fans in Uzbekistan. Vice President of the Uzbekistan Hockey Federation, Bahodir Gafurov, highlighted the rapid development of hockey in the country and emphasized the significance of hosting a KHL match for promoting the sport.
