Kazma confident of sealing top spot
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Kuwait side Kazma are looking to wrap up first place in Group C of the AFC Cup when they host closest rivals Nasaf Karshi at the Friendship and Peace Stadium on Wednesday, according to assistant coach Jamal Yaqoub.

The 2-1 win in Uzbekistan over the same opponents has put the hosts in the driving seat and three more points will see them through to the second phase as group winners and thus ensure a home tie.

"We want to seal first place," said Yaqoub.

"Winning against Nasaf will secure our place in the next round and will seal the top spot in the group. This will be our target, especially as we defeated them in Uzbekistan two weeks ago.

"Now we must win at home and repeat the win that we achieved previously. The most important thing for us is to get the three points and qualify early in order to avoid any mistakes in the last two matches.

"We should not put pressure on ourselves and a win on Wednesday will be very important for us," he added.

"We are capable of getting another win against Nasaf and hopefully the players will be in their best form."

While Kazma will be without Khaled Al Shammari as the defender continues to serve an eight-match ban, Nasaf will have Islom Inomov available again after suspension.

Coach Victor Kumykov admitted his men have their work cut out to avenge the previous defeat to the Kuwaitis.

"Kazma are a good team and they have played good football," said Kumykov.

"They defeated us at home and this shows that they are a good team and they took advantage of our mistakes.

"We will try our best to avenge our defeat in Kuwait. We have studied them well and we showed our players their mistakes and the weaknesses of Kazma after the previous match.

"We want to qualify to the next stage and also clinch the top spot," he added.

"The weather in Kuwait is not that bad and hopefully our players will not be affected by this atmosphere and they will achieve a good result which will help us advance to the knockout stage."
