Kashkadarya Boosts Localization: 66 New Product Types to Be Launched in 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2024, the Kashkadarya region implemented large-scale localization projects that significantly reduced the region’s reliance on imports. As a result, production of 20 new product types was mastered, including transformers, traffic lights, and modern control instruments.

Plans for 2025 include the further expansion of the localization program: the region aims to launch production of an additional 66 new product types and increase overall manufacturing output.

Currently, 70% of enterprises in the region operate at full or high capacity, 12% have fully transitioned to digital management, and another 78% have partially implemented digital technologies—indicating ongoing industrial modernization. However, 30% of enterprises are still operating below capacity: seven are loaded at only 20–30%, while twenty operate at 40–50%. According to experts, full utilization of production capacities would lead to the creation of new jobs and increased tax revenues.

Kashkadarya holds substantial potential for import substitution. The region could localize production of electrical equipment worth up to US$96 million, pumping equipment worth US$19 million, and pharmaceutical and medical products worth US$6.4 million. For instance, Trade and Sales Professionals is preparing to begin manufacturing traffic lights, while Muborakneftgazta’mir and Agrotechsuvmontaj plan to produce pump equipment.

Exports are also showing positive momentum: seven enterprises involved in the localization program have already exported products worth US$4.1 million, underscoring the competitiveness of locally produced goods in foreign markets.

One of the region’s key advantages is its wealth of natural resources supporting localization initiatives. Kashkadarya has verified reserves of 4.6 million tons of glass, 1.6 million tons of silicon, 113 million tons of shale, and 32.5 million tons of bentonite clay, laying the groundwork for further industrial development.

In 2024, 48 projects worth a total of 463 billion soums were implemented in the region, allowing for import substitution worth US$36 million, exports worth US$4 million, and the creation of 308 new jobs. For 2025, the implementation of 50 new projects totaling 1.03 trillion soums is planned, expected to substitute US$80 million in imports and generate 385 new jobs.

Among the most significant upcoming projects is the launch of metal equipment and product manufacturing by Rapid Rais Texnoprom in Koson district. The project will attract US$25 million in investment, have an annual production capacity of 3.2 thousand tons, create 150 jobs, and is projected to generate US$4 million in exports and contribute 10 billion soums in tax revenues.

Another major initiative will be implemented by the joint venture Nasaf XCP Techno in Karshi, which will produce 35,000 tons of polyethylene. The project involves US$8 million in investment, will create 65 jobs, substitute US$30 million in imports, and bring in 5 billion soums in tax revenue.

In summary, the Kashkadarya region is demonstrating strong potential in advancing industrial cooperation, localizing production, improving capacity utilization, and expanding export activities. Relevant government bodies are taking systematic measures to capitalize on these opportunities, foster entrepreneurship, and enhance the region’s investment appeal.
