On 14 September 2011, Jose Maria Pazos Méndez, 37, signed an agreement with the Uzbekistan Futsal Association. The agreement was signed till 31 December 2012.

Jose Maria Pazos Méndez said that he is happy to become head coach of Uzbekistan futsal team. He said that he know Uzbekistan well as he familiarized with team during his tenure in Thailand. He said that he was impressed with the Uzbek futsal players.

Spanish specialist added that Uzbekistan can achieve high goals if organize work correctly. He said that he will also help local coaches to improve their skills.

Jakhangir Usmanov, Vice-President of the Uzbekistan Futsal Association, said that the main target of new coach is to qualify to the World Cup. He said that Uzbekistan should be in top-4 of the AFC Futsal Championship in 2012.

For last four years, Jose Maria Pazos Méndez worked with Thailand and Vietnam national teams. He replaced at this post Brazilian Sergio Sapo.
