Japan U-22s to play 2 friendlies in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
Japan's Under-22s are set to play two friendlies against their Uzbek counterparts away on March 26 and 29, the Japan Football Association said Friday.
Japan, looking to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics, were scheduled to host the U-22 friendly on March 29 at National Stadium but decided to make the trip instead as Uzbekistan opted not to come to Japan amid concerns over the earthquake-triggered nuclear crisis.
The venue in Uzbekistan is yet to be decided.
The JFA announced a 23-man squad that includes Nagoya Grampus striker Kensuke Nagai and Gamba Osaka midfielder Takashi Usami.
Japan are scheduled to leave for Uzbekistan on Tuesday and return home on March 30.
