Japan to provide loan to develop digital television in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov signed a resolution “On measures on attracting soft loan of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and commercial banks of Japan to develop network of terrestrial digital television in Uzbekistan” on 3 April 2014.

The document was adopted for full coverage of Uzbekistan with digital television within the state programme on technical and technological transfer to digital television in Uzbekistan, as well as ensuring effective use of soft loans, presented within the investment programme “Development of network of terrestrial digital television in Uzbekistan” with participation of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and commercial banks of Japan.

The project is implemented stage-by-stage in 2013-2017. The preliminary cost of the project Development of network of terrestrial digital television in Uzbekistan” is about US$92 million.

The resolution envisages several preferences and advantages on taxes and customs payments for the participants of the project.

Implementation of the project will allow fully cover all regions of Uzbekistan with digital television by 2018 within the state programme on technical and technological transfer to digital television in Uzbekistan.
