Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Yosihisa Kuroda signed a grant contracts on 28 February. The grants were issued within no-string aid programme of the Japan Government to grass-root projects.
In particular, Syrdarya regional parental center will receive US$104,880, Khorezm regional parental center – US$104,740 and Andijan regional multifield medical center – US$98,590.
Japan issued US$99,800 to Tashkent city maternity complex No. 7, US$100,130 – Uchquduq district medical union of Navoi region and US$101,980 to Qiziriq district medical union of Surkhandarya region. Ferghana city medical union got US$97,800 to purchase new equipment.
The Government of Japan also granted US$100,000 to realization of the project on improving conditions of irrigation and drainage system in Hazarasp district of Khorezm region.
The Government of Japan has been implementing no-string aid programme to grass-root projects since 1995. The programme provides grants to projects in education, healthcare and in raising social status of women. During fifteen years, some 281 projects for $16.6 million were implemented.
As earlier reported, the Government of Japan allocated grants for over US$764,500 to ten schools from Uzbekistan on 18 February 2011.
