Economy 21/04/2007 Japan government supports BAS Programme in Uzbekistan

 

 

The government of Japan will support Business Advisory Service (BAS) Programme in Uzbekistan. The presentation dedicated to opening of the Japanese finance to the programme will be held on 3 May.

 

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Yuchi Kusumoto, head of the representation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Fernan Piyonel, heads of BAS Programme in Central Asia and Uzbekistan will attend the presentation. They will share on the results, plans and perspectives on development of BAS Programme.

 

BAS Programme assists local entrepreneurs to receive practical consultations on business issues. The programme, carried out within the EBRD activity, is realized for 12 years and covers 18 states of Eastern Europe, CIS and Baltic states.

 

BAS Programme started its operation in Central Asian in October 2001. In April 2007, Japan started to finance BAS Programme in Uzbekistan. Earlier, the government of Switzerland supported programme for two years.

 

Main direction of BAS Programme is to support local small and private businesses and assist in development of consultation market in Uzbekistan.

 

BAS Programme aimed at stimulation of development of small and medium enterprises through presentation of practical consultations on business. Currently, the programme initiated 525 projects, of which 410 were successfully completed.
