IT Volunteers continuing the series of trainings for elder people
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Starting 21 June in Sergeli District of Tashkent an ICT training is carried out for elderly people representing the social fund for veterans of Uzbekistan named “Nuroniy”. The training is delivered by the volunteers of ICT Policy Project under the direction of the project’s interns.

According to Mirhosil Majidiy, the intern of ICTP Project, during the two weeks the organizers of the training are planning to teach the participants basics of Windows operational system, MS Word text editor, internet surfing and electronic mail. It is pleasant to mention volunteers Farangiz Abdurakhmanova, Shakhribonu Tursunova, Mir-Khabibulla Khabibullaev and Miraziz Jafarov who use their spare time to share their computer knowledge and skills with others.

The classes are held in a computer class of One-Stop-Shop (OSS) at Sergeli District, the specialized centre providing public and municipal services to population, that has been founded by United Nations Development Programme represented by ICT Policy Project (ICTP) in partnership with Communication and Information Agency of Uzbekistan and Khokimiyat of Sergeli District. The computer class equipped with new computers and other necessary equipment is intended for delivering free trainings and seminars for population.

- This training is the first one delivered at OSS, - says Furqat Ibragimov, the project’s intern. – Further we are planning to continue with different types of ICT trainings.

IT Volunteers Service at ICTP Project of UNDP has been working since 2005. The aim of IT Volunteers is to provide free assistance to non-profit organizations, social funds, government and educational institutions which in using the capacity of ICT in their daily activities.

One of the initiatives of IT Volunteers Service is teaching children from orphanages, people with disabilities and elderly people computer skills which will give them more opportunities for socializing and professional development.
