The match lasted an hour and 36 minutes. Each player recorded six aces and one double fault each. Istomin broke his opponent five times, while Kuznetsov was able to win two serves of his opponent.

Uzbek ace will face Ivo Karlovic of Croatia in the second round of the tournament.
