Israeli artists, photographers and authors participate in Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Israeli artists, photographers and authors of various installations traditionally participate in the Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art.

In the VIII Biennale, Israel is represented by three projects: Shlomo Bronstein’s “7 + 1” photographs, Shmuel Shelest’s installation “The People of the Desert” and Gustavo Sagorsky’s “My Love, Uzbekistan” video art.

Gustavo Sagorsky, a native of Argentina, has already participated in the Tashkent International Biennale in 2014 and this time will present a video art based on many photographs of the youth of Uzbekistan, made by him in Tashkent and Bukhara. The romantic atmosphere of the parks, young people in love, love and innocence, peace and tranquility - this is how the author himself describes his works and impressions.

Shmuel Shelest, a former resident of Uzbekistan, presented his work in the spring of this year at the National Gallery of Art of Uzbekistan, as part of the international project “KOCHEVYE” and an exhibition of graphics in the Picture Gallery of Bukhara. For Shlomo Bronstein, this is the first participation in the Tashkent Biennale.

The VIII Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art will open on 10 October at 17:00 in the Central Exhibition Hall of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, and the opening of the exhibition with the participation of Israeli authors will be held at the National Gallery of Art of Uzbekistan at 17:00 on 11 October.

Cooperation is not limited to the arrival of Israeli artists in Uzbekistan. So, immediately after the end of this festival of art, the director of the VIII Tashkent Biennale of Shahnoza Karimbabaeva will take part in the Manofim Festival of Visual Art, which will be held in Jerusalem on 23-27 October. As part of this event, curators, heads of museums and art galleries from many countries around the world will gather in Israel.
