Israel hosts the fourth international shashmaqom festival

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 September 2019, as part of the celebration of the 28th anniversary of state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Israel, the fourth international shashmaqom festival was held in the Ramle Palace of Culture.

According to the information of the Embassy of our country, the international shashmaqom festival has been held since 2016 with the support of the Bukhara Jewish community, including the Sogdiana International Association of Creative Intelligentsia with the participation of prominent representatives of the shashmaqom genre of musical art in Israel and Uzbekistan.

At the festival, a creative team from Uzbekistan led by Asliddin Dustov, as well as famous shashmaqom performers from among our former compatriots, performed.

During the festival, dances of Uzbekistan performed by Israeli dancers in national Uzbek costumes, as well as traditional melodies on doira were also demonstrated.

Ramle Mayor Michael Vidal expressed his gratitude to the Bukhara-Jewish community for its active contribution to the common values, traditions and culture in this city, where most of the Bukhara Jews live, which contribute to the expansion of Israeli-Uzbek relations.

As part of the event, the Embassy also organized negotiations with the mayor of Ramle, during which issues of establishing twin-city relations between the Israeli city and Zarafshan were discussed. Also, meetings were held with a group of Uzbek citizens working in Israel.

They were informed about measures taken in our country in the field of combating human trafficking. Diplomats answered questions from fellow citizens regarding the upcoming elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
