The forum was held within the visit of the French business delegation to Uzbekistan. The delegation will stay in Uzbekistan from 30 June to 4 July 2014.

Representatives of commercial banks, mobile communication companies, city passenger transport, retail trade and mass media participated in the business forum.

Near field communication (NFC) is a set of standards for smartphones and similar devices to establish radio communication with each other by touching them together or bringing them into proximity, usually no more than a few inches. Present and anticipated applications include contactless transactions, data exchange, and simplified setup of more complex communications such as Wi-Fi. Communication is also possible between a NFC device and an unpowered NFC chip, called a “tag”.

The technology is used to book air tickets, pay to goods and services, public transport. Over 130 companies, including American Express, Visa, MasterCard, are using technology.

During the event, the sides discussed perspectives of cooperation at use of NFC at commercial banks, in example of Agrobank, aspects of information security at use of mobile technologies in cooperation with UNICON.UZ, use of NFC technologies at trade complexes, introduction of NFC technology at devices of ARTEL, etc.

The French side shared with experience of Sofrecom Group and АESMA on introduction of NFC technologies and held bilateral negotiations with the Uzbek companies.

SSP-Maroqand, specializing in introduction of this technology in Uzbekistan, is ready to offer solutions for introduction of NFC as mobile wallets or identification access cards. The technology can be used as in advertisement sector as well.

One device with SIM card and GSM NFC can be used to pay for public transport, medical services, buy tickets for theatres, cinema, fuel, etc.
