A photo exhibition dedicated to the day offered images conveying emotions, impressions and memories of the recent ‘Kelajak Ovozi’ Summer Training Camp joined by hundreds by youngsters as well as reflecting events from the everyday life of the youth in Uzbekistan.

The exhibition offered around 150 photos by boys and girls interested in photography and centered around themes such as ‘Kelajak Ovozi YIC Projects’, ‘We Are 22!’ and ‘Me and Around Me’. Also on display were pieces for Instagram app. The photos will remain on display until August 19.

The opening ceremony for the photo exhibition included barnstorming performances by instrumental music group ‘KelajakInstrum’, young singer Bakhtiyor Rahmonov and aspiring pop star and Zor’-Zo’r Star music project contestant Shakhlo Ahmedova.

The welcome remarks by representatives of the event organizers, Fund Forum, UNFPA and the YIC, were followed by an awards ceremony for the most promising young photographers, whose works were among those on display at the exhibition.

Those attending the Youth Day event could also learn about the outcomes of the youth-oriented projects run by the YIC last year. The event also discussed problems facing the youth and ways of addressing them as well as new ideas and proposals.

International Youth Day was adopted by the United Nations in 1999. It is celebrated on August 12 each year and is meant as an opportunity for governments and others to draw attention to youth issues worldwide. Notably, in August last year Kelajak Ovozi Summer Training Camp was named Best Youth Project in Uzbekistan by UN Information Center (UNIC) and UNFPA.
