International conference “Craft and Creativity” takes place in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry hosted an international conference “Craft and Creativity”, which was organized by Fund Forum in partnership with the British Council within the Art Week Style.uz-2012.

The conference participants discussed results of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Great Britain in education and design, achievements in the sector, new opportunities of cooperation, joint projects between educational establishments of two states.

Students and teachers of Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, Uzbek colleges, London College of Fashion and Agenda - Official web-site of the Art Week Style.uz 2012, representatives of “Osiyo Ramzi” Uzbekistan Designers Association and officials participated at the meeting.

In last several years, Uzbekistan and Great Britain established close relations in education and culture. Young designers exchange opinion with their western colleagues.

At the conference, textile industry of Uzbekistan and Great Britain presented reports on development of textile industry and designers work in Uzbekistan. Halida Kamilova, pro-rector of Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, presented a report on history and experience of Uzbekistan in textile industry.

Om the result of Art Week Style.uz-2012, it is planned to hold intensive business courses for starting designers, which will be held in December. It is also planned to hold courses for those, who already work in design sector. Halida Kamilova added that the cooperation will continue to develop.

Sarah Atkinson, teacher of the London College of Fashion, briefed the participants on history and experience of Great Britain in the textile industry. She said that Uzbekistan and Great Britain conducted huge work and it allowed Uzbek designers to learn European experience. She said that students of London institute will be interesting to learn Uzbek experience.
