Google I/O is an annual software developer-focused conference held by Google in San Francisco. Google I/O includes various sessions focused on building web, mobile, and enterprise applications with Google and open web technologies such as Android, Chrome, Chrome OS, Google APIs, Google Web Toolkit, App Engine, and more. Google has been holding Google I/O since 2008.

IUT organized the event for the second time. Over 250 students of IUT and other universities of Uzbekistan attended this event.

Within the Google I/O 2016 Extended IUT, the participants were familiarized with the best reports from main event Google I/O 2016. There were also reports by local IT specialists, who use Google products in their daily work.

Google I/O 2016 Extended at IUT included practical sessions and various coding contests. This year, the organizers held separate sessions for beginners, which familiarized the participants with the basics of Google products.

It is worth to mention that IUT and National mobile communication operator of Uzbekistan UZMOBILE, a branch of Uzbektelecom, signed an agreement of cooperation on 22 May 2016 to develop innovative projects in the sphere of information and communication technologies.

IUT student and Google I/O Extended team leader Nuruddin Iminokhunov said that the event was aimed at improving motivation of students and getting acquainted them with the advanced technologies. At the same time, it was directed at strengthening the relationship with other universities and developers to form the single developers’ community, he said.

Nuruddin Iminokhunov added that the participants received an opportunity to share their views and innovative ideas, which can contribute to development of ICT sector in Uzbekistan and promote local products in global markets.

Google I/O 2016 Extended IUT was supported by such companies as Insurance Company Kafolat, National mobile operator UzMobile, Asl Baraka and trademarks Evo+, NESCAFÉ®, KitKat®, The House of Tudor, and Asl Baraka.
