Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev inspected the construction progress in New Tashkent, focusing on transport infrastructure and utility systems.
The city, designed to accommodate one million residents, requires extensive infrastructure solutions to ensure its long-term viability.
The construction efforts include large-scale underground engineering projects that will form the foundation for future major developments. Emphasis is placed on environmental sustainability and the harmonious integration of infrastructure with daily life and nature.
Plans for an eco-friendly transport system involve close integration of the metro and electric buses. The project will include 14 tunnels, underground parking facilities for 100,000 vehicles, and provisions for safe, convenient pedestrian and bicycle pathways.
At one city intersection, foundation-laying for columns and waterproofing work is underway. The President recommended using materials resistant to external factors. Construction of utility corridors for centralized heating, water supply, electricity, and telecommunications is also in progress.
To meet modern urbanization needs, “smart” technologies will be widely applied. For the first time in Uzbekistan, a trigeneration station will be built, and wastewater will be treated using advanced technologies, producing water suitable for irrigation and technical needs.
The President also reviewed projects for the first phase of New Tashkent’s development, presented by auction winners for land plots. These include 11 multifunctional complexes, as well as hotels and restaurants, with a total investment of US$490 million. These facilities will enhance the district’s appeal and contribute to job creation.
Next year, additional land plots will be auctioned for subsequent construction phases. Each phase will bring new investment projects, fostering the city’s growth, generating jobs, and supporting local businesses.
In the future, New Tashkent aims to create approximately 200,000 high-paying jobs through the implementation of innovative technologies, technoparks, IT parks, and educational and medical clusters.
