Industrial output of Uzbekistan grows by 4.9% in January 2011
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The growth of industrial production of Uzbekistan grew by 4.9% year-on-year in January 2011 against 3.1% year-on-year in the same period of 2010, the State Statistics Committee said.

The State Statistics Committee underlined that the volume of industrial output in Uzbekistan reached 2.748 trillion soums in January 2011.

The committee said that high growth was achieved in such sectors as medicine – 89.6%, flour-grinding – 45.7%, chemical and petrochemical – 24.9%, glass and china-faience – 15.2%, construction materials – 12.1%, food – 7.9%, machinery and metal processing – 6.1% and others.

In particular, the fuel industry produced goods for 589.4 billion soums, power sector – 267.1 billion soums, chemical and petrochemical industry – 134 billion soums.

The volume of production in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy reached 65.6 billion soums and 312.3 billion soums respectively.

In machinery and metal processing industry, the products for 231.9 billion soums were manufactured in the reporting period.

The State Statistics Committee said that food industry’s output made up 367 billion soums and light industry – 498 billion soums.

In the regional context, the largest volume of industrial production fell to share of Tashkent city – 452.2 billion soums (+10%), Kashkadarya region – 365.8 billion soums (-9.6%) and Tashkent region – 359.7 billion soums (+5.3%).

The lowest volume was registered in Karakalpakstan – 40.6 billion soums (+12.2%), Syrdarya region – 40.3 billion soums (+17.7%) and Jizzakh region – 37.8 billion soums (+2.7%).
