Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United Arab Emirates, held from 24-26 March 2019, was in the center of attention of the Indian media.

Thus, the Indian news portal India Blooms has posted an article on the agreements reached between Uzbekistan and the UAE on expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation. It was reported that in 2018, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to US$400 million.

The source informs that during the visit, the parties discussed issues of expanding bilateral cooperation, strengthening practical cooperation in the trade and economic, investment, innovation, banking, financial and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

It was noted that Uzbekistan and the UAE have a huge potential for development of cooperation in the field of tourism. Historical sights and mausoleums, the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the country, as well as the nature of Uzbekistan, are of great interest to residents of the Emirates. Last year, the number of tourists from the UAE who visited Uzbekistan increased by 1.5 times.

The popular Indian news portal News18.com reported that agreements between the government of Uzbekistan and the UAE have been signed in the amount of US$10 billion.
