Indian envoy says Uzbekistan is important partner in CA
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan is one of important partner of India in Central Asia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Uzbekistan Anumula Gites Sarma said in interview to UzA.

Cooperation of India and Uzbekistan is continuing to strengthen and expand in all spheres. Close friendly relations and mutual beneficial cooperation of two states are based on firm foundation of common history and cultural heritage.

He said that the states have common view on regional security and development and highly rate tolerance and peace. He said that two states are against fundamentalism and terrorism, as well as contribute to strengthening stability in the region.

Anumula Gites Sarma said that trade turnover of between two nations made up almost US$160 million in 2011. He said that there is untapped potential in trade sphere and both states are trying to develop mutual trade. He said that the effective transit corridors should be set up and added that India is happy that Uzbekistan pays great attention to this issue.

Indian envoy said that India is ready to cooperate with Uzbekistan in information technologies. He said that human resources are important factor for improvement of IT sector.

Anumula Gites Sarma said tourism is another perspective direction of cooperation. Indians with great interest visit Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and other cities of Uzbekistan. He added large number of tourists from Uzbekistan visit Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Mumbai.

The diplomat said that Uzbekistan and India develop cooperation in aviation. Currently, there are 15 weekly flights between Uzbekistan and India. He said the sides want to expand cooperation in this direction.
