Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Globally, 92 million tons of textile waste end up in landfills each year.
73% of textile waste worldwide is either incinerated or buried in landfills, leading to significant resource loss and environmental pollution.
Only 13% of global textile waste is recycled in some way, with less than 1% being turned into new clothing.
In Germany, over 1 million tons of textiles are collected annually. About 62% of the collected clothing is reused, while the rest is processed into wiping materials. Only 4% of collected textiles are landfilled. But what about Uzbekistan?
To determine the extent of secondhand clothing consumption or, as it is widely known, "secondhand" culture, as well as the level of sorting and recycling of clothing in the country, experts from the Institute for Macroeconomic and Regional Studies (IMRI) under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan are conducting an online survey.
Dear citizens! We kindly ask you to actively participate in this survey and share your opinion.
The survey will take no more than 2-3 minutes to complete.
Your active participation will contribute to the development of concrete proposals to address clothing recycling issues and support the circularity of the textile industry.
