Improving state regulation of investment activities discussed in Jizzakh
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The joint project of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and UNDP “Local Governance Support: Participation and Partnership” in cooperation with Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and representatives of Senate of Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan and Jizzakh regional administration and corresponding bodies of Jizzakh city organized a roundtable titled “Issues of improving state regulation in investment activities”.

Senators from Jizzakh region, representatives of regional administrations, state bodies, small and private businesses, and others participated at the event.

The participants were informed about the activities of the UNDP project “Local Governance Support: Participation and Partnership” in Jizzakh region. The participants discussed improvement of investment legislation to increase attraction of foreign investments into Uzbekistan, including Jizzakh region.

UNDP representatives made a presentation on problems related to existing problems in investment activities of Uzbekistan. In particular, the presentation included problems related with opening branch of the foreign company and obtaining work permissions for foreign specialists, issues on land ownership rights, barriers for receiving license for tourism activities, etc.

Local officials also presented reports on issues related to the state registration of foreign investments, investment opportunities in Jizzakh region, assisting external trade and investment promotion in Uzbekistan, etc.

At the event, the participants considered proposals on improving investment activities in Uzbekistan. It was decided that the UNDP project will submit proposals on improving investment legislation to the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
