Imported goods make up 60-70% of electronics market
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Imported goods make up 60-70% of electronics market in Uzbekistan despite the country organized production of almost all types of products, chairperson of the Association Uzeltekhsanoat Tabriz Jalilov said at the Uzbek-Korea Business Forum last week.

Tabriz Jalilov said that Uzbekistan wants to cooperate with the Korean partners in this area as Uzbekistan has a great market. At the same time, he said that Korean producers can also enter markets of Central Asia and Russia via Uzbekistan.

He said that the Association Uzeltekhsanoat has great number of list of perspectives of projects on production of high-technologic products, which can be realized in participation of Korean businesses or other partners. He added that the Association can consider proposals of the foreign partners.

At the business forums, he announced some of these projects. He said that Uzbekistan is ready to launch production of refrigerators. Tabriz Jalilov said that annual demand of Uzbekistan for refrigerators makes up about 500,000 units, while Uzbekistan produces 30,000 refrigerators in 2013.

Head of the Association Uzeltekhsanoat, said that another perspective project is production of washing machines. He underlined that the volume of production of washing machines in Uzbekistan in 2013 made up about 20,000 units at the demand of 300,000 units a year.

He said that the Association also offers to foreign investors to implement a project on production of small home appliances. Uzbekistan only produces vacuum cleaners, other products such as hair-drier, meat grinders and others – are not produced in the country, he added.

Tabriz Jalilov stated that the Association Uzeltekhsanoat also ready to cooperate in implementation of projects on production of solar panels.
