Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The II International Statistical Forum of CIS Countries, titled "New Technologies and Data Sources in Statistics," is taking place from 2 to 4 October 2024, in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan, according to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The forum’s program focuses on data management, the development of statistical education, new technologies for collecting, processing, analyzing, and disseminating statistical data, the use of administrative and big data, and the application of artificial intelligence in statistics.
In his welcoming speech at the opening ceremony, CIS Deputy Secretary General Denis Trefilov highlighted that the introduction of information technologies into statistics opens up new opportunities for data collection, processing, and analysis, which improves the quality of statistical research and aids in making informed decisions, particularly in economic and social areas.
According to him, statistics is one of the fields where a strong, effective, and comprehensive international partnership has developed. It is no coincidence that the forum is being held as part of the CIS Statistics Development Project, which aims to give new momentum to expanding cooperation between CIS countries in this field.
One of the main goals of the project is to implement and use new technologies and data sources in the field of statistics. The project envisages the creation of a Unified Information and Analytical System (UIAS) based on BI technologies.
Denis Trefilov emphasized that the CIS Executive Committee is ready to continue actively supporting the implementation of this project, including the adoption and use of new information technologies.
The forum also brings together leaders and authorized representatives from the national statistical services of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan, along with employees of the CIS Executive Committee, representatives of the Interstate Statistical Committee of the CIS, the UN ECE Statistics Division, other international organizations, and experts from the business community of the CIS member states.
