Huawei showcases F5G-A Solutions to drive AI development in the Middle East and Central Asia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the Global Optical Summit 2025, held in the Uzbek capital, Huawei unveiled its latest fifth-generation fixed optical network solutions — F5G Advanced (F5G-A) — aimed at supporting digital transformation and the advancement of artificial intelligence technologies in the Middle East and Central Asia.

The event brought together more than 250 business leaders, technical experts, and regional partners, creating a platform to discuss the strategic importance of optical and sensing technologies in enabling the next phase of digitalization.

In his opening remarks, Oleg Pekos, First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, emphasized that the implementation of the national “Digital Uzbekistan – 2030” program is focused on building a modern digital infrastructure and significantly increasing the digital economy’s share of GDP — from 8.7% in 2023 to 30% by 2030. He noted that fiber-optic networks are a critical backbone for both the digital economy and the AI ecosystem. “Progress is impossible without international cooperation, knowledge sharing, and technological partnerships. Large-scale events like the Tech Carnival and the Global Optical Summit are a testament to that,” he said.

In his keynote address, Perry Yang, President of Huawei Enterprise Optical Business Product Line, underlined the pivotal role of optical networks in enabling sustainable digitalization. “There is no AI without optics. All-optical networks are becoming the foundation for widespread, inclusive AI adoption across industries. Today, optical communication technologies are expanding beyond data centers to enterprise and industry networks, laying the groundwork for high-performance computing powered by fiber,” he stated.

Huawei’s F5G-A solutions address the full spectrum of digital infrastructure needs: from data centers requiring ultra-low latency, to intelligent campuses and industrial networks where reliability and uninterrupted performance are essential, and security systems that depend on high-precision sensing and monitoring.

Charles Shen, Vice President of ICT Marketing and Sales for Huawei in the Middle East and Central Asia, emphasized: “Huawei has long been collaborating closely with regional partners to implement cutting-edge optical technologies. We are now entering a new era in which the synergy between optics and AI will form the foundation of an intelligent future for our region.”

Among the invited experts was Khulood Al-Dorgam, CEO of the Fiber Connect Council MENA, who highlighted the critical role of fiber-optic infrastructure as a primary driver of the digital economy and enterprise transformation.

A real-world application of F5G-A technology was presented by Azizi Developments, a company from the UAE, which showcased how fully optical networks have transformed its hospitality operations and corporate campuses.

The summit concluded with an awards ceremony honoring outstanding members of the Huawei OptiX Club for their significant contributions to the advancement of the optical industry and smart technologies in the region.

Huawei’s F5G-A solutions are becoming a cornerstone technology for unlocking AI’s potential across multiple sectors in the Middle East and Central Asia. The summit’s message was crystal clear: the future of artificial intelligence is inseparable from robust, high-performance optical networks — and that future begins now.
