How have prices changed in the capital’s stores?

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Experts from the Institute of Macroeconomic and Regional Studies in May 2024 conducted regular monitoring of prices for food products for 21 items in the largest supermarket chains in Tashkent.

The monitoring results showed that for 10 items the minimum prices decreased compared to the previous month*. The decrease in prices for cucumber was 49.0%, yellow onion - 24.5%, potato - 16.9%, apple - 16.7%, cabbage - 14.6%, chicken egg - 11.7%, red carrot - 8.3%, tomato - 6.3%, chicken meat (fillet) - 4.9%, sugar - 3.6%.

For 6 items, the minimum prices remained unchanged. Among them are rice, buckwheat, pasta, milk, margarine, sunflower oil.

Prices have increased for 5 items. The leader in price growth is bananas. Short-term increases in banana prices are due to temporary market factors, and changes in supply and demand.
