Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2011™ third-place playoff at Al Sadd Stadium on Friday sees Uzbekistan and Korea Republic meet for the first time in the history of the continent’s premier tournament. The Central Asians suffered the worst defeat in the knockout stage in Asian Cup history when they went down 6-0 to Australia and if their confidence wasn’t low enough, they are taking on a country that has beaten them in five out of the seven matches they have played. Uzbekistan’s sole victory came at the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima, when they won 1-0 en route to claiming the gold medal, but with the exception of a 1-1 draw in Tashkent during the 2006 World Cup qualifiers, Korea Republic have won every single game, most recently a 3-0 win in Suwon back in October 2008.
