Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Busaiteen coach Abdulaziz Ameen has one eye on the knockout stage of the AFC Cup but is not getting carried away just yet despite Tuesday’s 4-2 win over Lebanon’s Al Ahed ensuring a 100% start to Group A.

Nigerian striker Robert Akaruye saw his opener cancelled out by Hassan Maatouk, but Abdulwahab Ali and Ali Norooz quickly regained the lead for the for the home side.

Brazilian striker Junior Da Silva pulled a goal back for Al Ahed with 16 minutes remaining but Akaruye sealed the win in stoppage time.

“We played well and scored from the chances we created,” said Amin. “We did have more chances in the first half to seal the game but failed to convert those. But the players made it easier in the second half and scored three goals.

“There are still four games to play and we are not yet in the next stage. We must take it game to game, we still must win two more games.”

Al Ahed beat Uzbekistan’s Neftchi 5-1 last week, but coach Fouad Saad was left to rue an inconsistent display.

“We were too cautious in the first half and this was the main reason behind the defeat,” he said. “We were not coherent and we had a problem in the midfield which affected the attack.

“Our defenders didn’t play well in the second half and our players went forward too much. This gave Busaiteen chances and they were able to score.”

Meanwhile, Neftchi head coach Yuriy Sarkisayn was pleased to record a first win of the season as the four-time AFC Champions League qualifiers edged out Yemen’s Al Tilal.

Last week’s defeat by Al Ahed followed back-to-back defeats at the start of the new domestic campaign, but a penalty from half-time substitute Sherzod Hakimov five minutes after half-time was enough to earn Neftchi all three points.

“It was very important for us to win and we did,” he said. “After losing three matches in a row you are bound to have a problem with the players mentality. We had to pick up their spirits and we managed it.”
